MADE TO BE A LITTLE DIFFERENT

Stained glass, timber &

things made by hand.

Findaway Designs brings together stained glass and woodworking to create colourful, practical and sometimes unexpected pieces for the home.

Made in Tasmania, with a love of good materials, thoughtful details and the character that comes from working by hand.

Learn something new

Fancy trying something different? Join a relaxed, hands-on workshop or book a 1:1 skills session and learn at your own pace.

So, why Findaway?

I’ve always loved making things.

Usually it starts with seeing something I like, or finding a problem that needs solving, and thinking: “I wonder if I could make that?” or “Surely I can fix that…”

Then comes the fun part: figuring out how.

I love learning new skills, trying different techniques and solving the little problems that inevitably pop up along the way. And I’ve learned that making mistakes is a huge part of that process.

Sometimes, those mistakes are quite spectacular.

Many years ago, I decided to make a wooden cat tree for my cats. I spent DAYS working on it. There was sawing, hammering on the deck at 8pm in the dark, frustration and a considerable amount of swearing.

Eventually, it was finished.

It was wobbly.

The cats hated it.

So we threw it off the deck, set it on fire and sang along to Fire Water Burn while watching my masterpiece go up in flames.

Not every project is going to work.

But every project teaches you something.

I often hear people say “I could never do that.”

Findaway is my way of saying: maybe you can.

You don’t have to know exactly what you’re doing before you start. Have a go. Make mistakes. Learn something. Try again. And most importantly, enjoy figuring it out.

I hope sharing my projects, experiences, mistakes and lessons inspires someone else to think:

“Maybe I could try that.”
